Music Video: Camera Work
In this blog post I will be focusing on camera work and to be more precise, the walk along shot. On this shot the singer, or the actor, is walking forwards and the camera is panning them by being moved in front of them. The singer can be singing the song and if it is a character, they can be just waking along and following the plot. This is a great technique and it is further developed and discovered in the 25th second of this video. I have found this video and it is very helpful when it comes to deciding which shot to use and when. The walk along shot is used regularly in music videos and I will use it my video too as I want the camera to pan the movement os some of my characters. The walk along shot is amazing and looks fanatstic in music videos as the background is moving. the singer is also moving and it create a very dynamic effect with tons of energy. The walk along shot is used to often because of the appealing nature it gives to the video.
At 1:10, the video goes into more depth about how to add even more effect to the walk along shot. It is best to add a varying amount of different lenght shots and then cut between them. Wide angle shots are the best to also show off the location but cutting from a wide angle shot to a close up creates a bigger appeal.
